Junk Journal & Yap is a beginner-friendly creative workshop where participants create layered journal spreads using paper scraps, stickers, stationery, ephemera, and mixed materials in a relaxed, community-centered environment. Guided through the signature JJY LAYER Method, attendees learn an approachable framework for building cohesive, story-filled spreads through layering, composition, texture, and personal storytelling. Blending creativity, analog crafting, and cozy community energy, the workshop encourages people to slow down, explore self-expression, and embrace imperfection in a way that feels playful, meaningful, and accessible to all skill levels.

To make your journal spread more personal, you’re welcome to bring a few meaningful paper keepsakes such as:
Printed photos of yourself, loved ones, or a recent trip
Postcards

Maps
Letters
Other memorabilia or paper treasures you’d love to preserve in your journal
Don’t worry if you don’t have any of these. Everything needed to complete the workshop will be provided, and you’ll leave with a finished spread and the confidence to continue junk journaling on your own.

Abby is the founder of Junk Journal & Yap, a creative community centered around junk journaling, stationery culture, and meaningful analog creativity. Through workshops, meetups, and international collaborations spanning California to Portugal, she creates cozy, beginner-friendly spaces where people can reconnect with storytelling, paper, and community.
